Netflix’s live-action adaptation of One Piece has officially been renewed for a second season, with production wrapped and a premiere planned for 2026. The first season debuted in August 2023 to critical acclaim and worldwide popularity, quickly earning a renewal just two weeks after its release. The show's bold blend of adventure, heartfelt storytelling, and strong performances helped it become one of Netflix’s most successful live-action adaptations of an anime or manga series.

Filming for Season 2 began in mid-2024 in Cape Town, South Africa, and continued until early February 2025. Netflix announced the wrap of production with a celebratory image of the Straw Hat crew gathered in Loguetown and confirmed that the crew’s journey into the Grand Line was officially underway. Fans were thrilled by the promise of more high-seas action and new characters from the beloved manga and anime series.

According to the showrunners, Season 2 will cover the arcs leading up to and including Drum Island. This means fans can expect to see locations like Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island brought to life. These storylines are pivotal in the One Piece saga and will introduce fan-favorite characters, expand the lore of the Grand Line, and deepen the bonds among the Straw Hat Pirates.

Returning for Season 2 are the main cast members from the first season: Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji. They will be joined by several new characters, including Tony Tony Chopper, who will be portrayed using a combination of voice acting and CGI. The role of Chopper is voiced and performed through motion capture by Mikaela Hoover.

The new season will also introduce other major characters from the Baroque Works saga, such as Mr. 0 (Crocodile), Miss All-Sunday (Nico Robin), Miss Wednesday (Princess Vivi), and Smoker, among others. These characters mark the beginning of One Piece’s deeper political intrigue, complex alliances, and moral ambiguity, elevating the stakes for Luffy’s crew as they inch closer to the Alabasta arc.

Although a specific release date has not been announced, Netflix has confirmed the season is expected to launch in 2026. Given the amount of post-production required—especially for CGI-heavy characters like Chopper and large-scale visual effects—fans can expect a release in the first half or middle of the year. Promotional teasers, behind-the-scenes images, and casting reveals have already started generating significant anticipation.

Speculation has also begun regarding a potential third season. Some sources suggest that early planning for Season 3 is already underway, which would continue the adaptation into the Alabasta arc—one of the most iconic and emotionally resonant storylines in the One Piece universe.

In summary, One Piece Season 2 is set to deliver an exciting and emotional continuation of the Straw Hat journey. With new allies, powerful enemies, and the Grand Line ahead, the second season aims to build on the momentum of the first while staying faithful to Eiichiro Oda’s legendary source material. Fans worldwide eagerly await the next adventure—and all signs point to it being well worth the wait.
