Jeremy Robert Myron Sumpter, born on February 5, 1989, in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, is an American actor best known for his unforgettable portrayal of Peter Pan in the 2003 live-action film. Though he spent his early years in California, Jeremy was raised in Mount Sterling, Kentucky, where his love for sports, the outdoors, and performing arts began to take shape. His adventurous spirit and natural charisma would later define much of his work on screen.
Jeremy’s entertainment career started early. At age eleven, he won a national modeling competition, which prompted his family to move to Los Angeles to support his acting aspirations. His film debut came in the psychological thriller Frailty (2001), where he played the young version of a character portrayed by Matthew McConaughey. Television fans may best remember him as J.D. McCoy on the critically acclaimed series Friday Night Lights, where he portrayed a talented but arrogant quarterback. His performance added a layer of complexity to the show’s rich ensemble, and it remains one of his most mature and nuanced roles.
In recent years, Sumpter has continued acting while also expressing interest in producing. He starred in the indie romance The Fall in 2024 and remains involved in smaller film projects.
